Biografia
Joaquim Zeferino Ferreira Parga, egresso da Casa dos Educandos Artífices, certamente foi discípulo direto de Sérgio Augusto Marinho (ca. 1826-1864). Formando-se como alfaiate, manteve em sua alfaiataria um comércio musical com venda de partituras e instrumentos musicais. Como flautista e regente, teve atuação relevante durante toda a segunda metade do século XIX, sendo o mestre da banda que interpretou a Novena de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios de Antonio Luiz Miró no festejo de 1851. Chegou a dirigir e reger a orquestra do então Teatro São Luiz em 1890. Também atuou como professor de música, e de seus sete filhos, seis mantiveram atividades musicais: as pianistas Anna e Alzira e os violinistas Joaquim, Tancredo, Hermenegildo e Raymundo. Apenas seu filho José deixou a atuação musical para se dedicar à carreira militar no Ministério da Guerra, no Rio de Janeiro.

Biografia
Filho do músico curupupuense José Alípio de Morais (ca. 1845-1929), José Alípio de Moraes Filho teve relevante papel na educação musical nos diversos municípios em que passou, seja como professor de música ou organizador e regente de bandas locais. Algumas das cidades pelas quais passou são: São Bento, São Luís, Belém – foi regente da banda do Corpo de Bombeiros do Pará – Axixá, São Luís novamente – sendo professor de sopros da Escola de Bellas Artes – Cururupu – onde ensinou canto orfeônico no Instituto Curupupuense e deu aulas para João Carlos Dias Nazareth (1911-1986) – Guimarães, Carutapera e, por fim, em São Luís.

Biografia
José da Costa Rayol, nascido em São Luís na década de 1880, era filho de Alexandre Rayol, e certamente estudou música com seu pai. No Amazonas, estudou no Gymnásio Amazonense. Posteriormente, seguiu carreira semelhante à de seu pai como professor particular, tendo dirigido interinamente o Collegio Rayol em São Luís. Em Manaus, lecionou telegrafia, sendo nomeado professor de música no Instituto Affonso Penna em 1911. No entanto, faleceu precocemente dois anos depois, quando então atuava na empresa “Manaus Harbor Limited”.

José Parga, nascido na capital maranhense em 1875, foi um dos irmãos da família que manteve a “Orchestra Irmãos Parga” em São Luís entre 1904 e 1934, aproximadamente. Também estudou música, porém, dedicou-se prioritariamente à carreira de oficial militar do Exército, tendo ingressado em 1893. Mudou-se em definitivo para o Rio de Janeiro no início do século XX para trabalhar no Ministério da Guerra.

Biografia
José Ribamar dos Passos, apelidado de ‘Chaminé’ nos tempos de estudante do Liceu Maranhense devido a sua altura, teve relevante atuação musical em São Luís da primeira metade do século XX à década de 1960. Foi regente e membro fundador do Jazz Alcino Bílio, criado em homenagem ao músico de mesmo nome, falecido em 1929, que consistiu na reunião das principais jazz-bands ludovicenses da época. Teve relevante atuação junto ao Syndicato dos Musicos, fundado em 1934, fazendo as reuniões da entidade em sua própria residência. Chegou a ser membro da diretoria da Sociedade de Cultura Artística do Maranhão (SCAM) no Departamento de Música, ao lado da pianista acompanhadora Laura Rosa Parga Ewerton e do barítono José Ribamar Bello Martins (1927-2001). Paralelamente, era fiscal de rendas do Tribunal de Contas do Estado do Maranhão.

Biografia
José Ribeiro de Sampaio, advogado de formação, teve destacada atuação política no interior do Maranhão. Foi prefeito de Picos (atual Colinas), cidade que permaneceu por mais tempo, na década de 1920, e deputado estadual pelo Maranhão. Paralelamente, atuou como compositor e regente de bandas, a exemplo de uma “charanga” que tocou no dia 28 de julho de 1921 em Picos. Segundo informações de um parente na internet, estabeleceu-se por fim na sua fazenda em São Domingos do Maranhão.
