Biografia
Joaquim Zeferino Ferreira Parga, egresso da Casa dos Educandos Artífices, certamente foi discípulo direto de Sérgio Augusto Marinho (ca. 1826-1864). Formando-se como alfaiate, manteve em sua alfaiataria um comércio musical com venda de partituras e instrumentos musicais. Como flautista e regente, teve atuação relevante durante toda a segunda metade do século XIX, sendo o mestre da banda que interpretou a Novena de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios de Antonio Luiz Miró no festejo de 1851. Chegou a dirigir e reger a orquestra do então Teatro São Luiz em 1890. Também atuou como professor de música, e de seus sete filhos, seis mantiveram atividades musicais: as pianistas Anna e Alzira e os violinistas Joaquim, Tancredo, Hermenegildo e Raymundo. Apenas seu filho José deixou a atuação musical para se dedicar à carreira militar no Ministério da Guerra, no Rio de Janeiro.

Biografia
Tancredo Fabrício Ferreira Parga, um dos seis filhos músicos do flautista Joaquim Zeferino, teve atuação relevante em São Luís durante as primeiras décadas do século XX. Junto com seu irmão Joaquim, fundou a firma “Parga & Irmão”, inicialmente dedicada ao comércio. Posteriormente, passou a utilizá-la para realização de apresentações, dando origem à “Orchestra Irmãos Parga”, grupo com relevante atuação em São Luís entre 1904 e 1934. Com a morte do regente Joaquim Possidonio em 1909, Tancredo assumiu a direção e a regência do grupo a partir de então. O grupo se apresentou em diversos festejos religiosos, ao lado de Carlos Marques e do padre Dionisio José Algarvio. Paralelamente, Tancredo foi funcionário da Diretoria da Fazenda do Estado do Maranhão, aposentando-se no início da década de 1930.

Biografia
José Ribamar dos Passos, apelidado de ‘Chaminé’ nos tempos de estudante do Liceu Maranhense devido a sua altura, teve relevante atuação musical em São Luís da primeira metade do século XX à década de 1960. Foi regente e membro fundador do Jazz Alcino Bílio, criado em homenagem ao músico de mesmo nome, falecido em 1929, que consistiu na reunião das principais jazz-bands ludovicenses da época. Teve relevante atuação junto ao Syndicato dos Musicos, fundado em 1934, fazendo as reuniões da entidade em sua própria residência. Chegou a ser membro da diretoria da Sociedade de Cultura Artística do Maranhão (SCAM) no Departamento de Música, ao lado da pianista acompanhadora Laura Rosa Parga Ewerton e do barítono José Ribamar Bello Martins (1927-2001). Paralelamente, era fiscal de rendas do Tribunal de Contas do Estado do Maranhão.

Manoel Agostinho Pereira foi um músico atuante em São Luís. Em 1920, foi nomeado na Guarda Civil da cidade, sendo exonerado no ano seguinte por ter sido nomeado soldado do então 24.º Batalhão de Caçadores, sendo promovido posteriormente a soldado músico.

Biografia
Alamiro dos Prazeres foi regente da banda da Polícia Militar do Maranhão, tendo dirigido retretas especialmente na década de 1920. Chegou a ser sub-delegado em São Vicente Ferrer, pedindo exoneração em 1929. Durante sua estadia na cidade, regeu uma banda filarmônica. Em anos posteriores, a banda do 24.º Batalhão de Infantaria também chegou a interpretar suas composições. “Aorora”, uma valsa de sua autoria composta em 1905, está disponível no acervo da Sociedade Musical Amor à Arte, de Florianópolis, Santa Catarina.
